Business Development Specialist
This position can by hybrid if local to Phoenix or can work remote in Arizona
Position Summary:
Acts as a profitable growth expert with the ability to generate new business within their agency assignments through strategic execution of business plans. Maintains strong sales acumen, relationship building, and closing skills with the ability to develop a pipeline for new business, new products, and new relationships. Technically proficient to handle large and complex accounts. Sells our value proposition that will influence the buying habits of our existing and prospective agencies.
Responsibilities:

Manage across complex relationships, geography, and multiple locations to achieve breakthrough business results for the agency and company with the support of departmental leaders.

Accountable for identifying opportunities and negotiating with agencies and hold direct responsibility for pipeline management and the validity and volume of opportunities being tracked.

Underwrite and price new accounts and renewal policies.

In coordination and with oversight of department leaders, manage the development and implementation of business plans for achieving established operational plan targets for written premium, loss ratio, retention, pricing, and coordination of service.

Cultivate and fervently grow robust relationships with agencies to achieve department objectives.

Engage new producers to increase enthusiasm, brand awareness and command of company’s service delivery value proposition.

Mentor and coach team members based on sales expertise.

Provide ongoing updates to agency customers on results to further influence achievement of plan objectives throughout the year.

Act as a resource for internal service partners where problem resolution or questions arise on renewals.

Convene diverse stakeholders across the organization to problem solve around strategic direction for business development efforts, enable the success of new risk solutions, and coordinate engagement with high-priority clients.

Work with agents, department leaders, and corporate underwriting team to ensure plans align with company strategies.

Mentor and train team members on marketing responsibilities based on extensive sales expertise.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience

5 years marketing and underwriting experience in commercial middle market insurance
-
3 years of experience driving profitable sales growth to meet overall operational goals

Designations such as CIC, CPCU, AU preferred

Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively build relationships across all levels of the organization and with external partners

Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a fast paced, highly visible, and changing environment

Ability to think strategically with supporting analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers

Ability to travel up to 40%

Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving
